Deaf Art Science Festival
19 September 2026, 11am
Science Gallery Melbourne, The University of Melbourne, Parkville VIC 3010

We warmly invite families, young people, members and allies of the deaf community to Science Gallery Melbourne’s free Deaf Art Science Festival.
Co-designed with members of the deaf community — including students and professionals — the day brings together art, science and Auslan. The program includes a keynote forum with deaf and hard of hearing experts on climate change, deaf-led STEM activities for families (Makey Makey workshops and Auslan Storytime), an introductory Auslan lesson by deaf Auslan teachers, and a showcase of deaf organisations and emergency services supporting the deaf and hard of hearing community.
The Science Gallery Cafe will be open for coffee and lunch, staffed by deaf student baristas from Victorian College for the Deaf’s Tradeblock Cafe. Auslan interpreters will be available all day, and families with children are encouraged to attend.
This is a free event, but registration is essential. See the full program at Science Gallery Melbourne.
