Deaf Art Science Festival returns to Science Gallery Melbourne

Our friends at Science Gallery Melbourne are hosting a free Deaf Art Science Festival on Saturday 19 September 2026, 11am–5pm, at the University of Melbourne in Parkville.
Co-designed with members of the deaf community — including students and professionals — the day mixes art, science and Auslan. Expect a keynote forum with deaf and hard of hearing experts on climate change, deaf-led STEM activities for families, an introductory Auslan lesson by deaf Auslan teachers, and a showcase of deaf organisations and emergency services. The Science Gallery Cafe will be staffed by deaf student baristas from Victorian College for the Deaf’s Tradeblock Cafe.
Auslan interpreters will be available all day, and families with children are encouraged to come along.
